Ghassan Salhab
(Posthume) | 2007

(Posthume) was filmed after the Israeli attack in the summer of 2006. Taking the population by surprise, this short war and the reigniting of hostilities, led many artists to express their anger and fear through texts, drawings and short films posted on the internet, including Mazen Kerbaj’s ‘War Diary’ which is part of the Saradar Collection. Salhab contributed to this movement with (Posthume), a short and emotional video in which he appears in the city. Belonging to later stage of works produced in the aftermath of the conflict, (Posthume) is not a reaction, but rather a meditative essay on devastation. It is haunted at the same time by the apparent absence of any fiction and the omnipresence of the real.
